Greenwood Baskets
Alison Fitzgerald fell in love with willow more than 20 years ago when she came to live in Ireland. “The beautiful, slender, brightly coloured stems gently swaying in the winter sun inspired me to weave”. Alison then established Greenwood Baskets in Armagh a few years later and after 20 years weaving has made an inspired move to Priory Cottages, Benburb.
An understanding of the natural qualities of willow is a feature of Greenwood Baskets. Strong, gently curving frame baskets look elegant and modern but are based on ancient traditional forms; log and carrying baskets may have curved tops and spiral or zigzag weaving; ‘wandering willow’ wall designs suggest swirls of movement with smoothly bending willows, the tips folded back into leaf-like shapes.
All have subtle blends of natural bark colours and are made to order.

These courses will take place in my own workshop in Benburb and because of limited space are restricted to four people only for each weekend. The small group allows teaching to suit individuals, so the courses can cater for beginners as well as others with more experience. My workshop is situated in the beautiful grounds of Beburb Priory where overnight accommodation is available, please let me know if you need it.
If these dates do not suit you I am happy to arrange individual tuition on other dates.
Cost per day £80 for 1 person or £60 each for 2 people
